Müggelsee

a trip to berlin's largest lake

With a length of approx. 4.5 km and a width of 2.5 km, Müggelsee, located in the district of Köpenick, is the largest lake in Berlin. The lake itself, as well as the shore zones and the wooded surroundings offer a wide variety of possibilities for a day trip into the green…or rather blue.

In the south, the green Müggelberge hills line the shore. There is plenty of space for long walks – both in the forest and along the well-maintained path along the shore, which is easily passable with prams, bicycles, etc. You can also see water birds along the shore. You can also observe water birds on the banks and, with a bit of luck, slow worms and even beavers.

On warmer days, you can rent rowing boats, pedal boats, kayaks, SUPs and motor boats at one of the two locations of the Spreepoint boat rental.

In the summer of 2021, we were able to rent a pedal boat after waiting for about 30 minutes without prior registration. We paid 15€ per hour.

Life jackets in all sizes are available for children. You can also rent pedal boats with water slides if you want to swim and splash around.

On the northern shore of Müggelsee there is also the spacious Müggelsee lido which often attracts several thousand visitors on warm summer days.

Thanks to the wide sandy beach and fairly shallow water on the shore, the lido is super suitable for children, we think!
